Roscoè B. Thické III
Photographer, Visual Artist, community advocate, and father of three, Roscoè B. Thické III, was born and raised in Miami, Florida. What began as a means to an end, became a journey of exploration, transformation, and evolution. The army provided Thicke with the opportunity to travel to such places as Jordan and Iraq but it would be a volunteer based photography class, in South Korea, that would lay the ground work from amateur exploration of culture and customs, to the intentional, stirring, and impressive images, we see of his work today. Roscoe pursued his passion for visual arts by studying photography and design at Broward College. Thicke’s work is centered around the resilience of spirit, the affliction of memory, the art in “seeing”, and conversations with self and God, as seen in his exhibited work through The Bass Museum, The Art and Culture Center in Hollywood, Fl, and Oolite Arts. Roscoe is a 2021 Ellie Schneiderman Creator award winner (The Ellies) and current artist-in-residence at Oolite Arts.
Currently holds a studio residency at Oolite Arts in Miami Beach and the African American Research Library in Fort Lauderdale.
